Fall Invitation

Fall Craft and Snack

Supply List: Beaded Corn

  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Pony Beads
Each corn will need four 12-inch pipe cleaners and approximately 100 beads.

Twist the pipe cleaners together in the middle, creating 8 shorter arms. Feed around 12 beads onto each arm in any color pattern you wish. When you are satisfied with how they look fold the arms up into a bundle and twist the ends of the pipe cleaners together once more creating the husk at the top.

Recipe: Cinnamon Sugar Chips

  • 6 Flour tortillas
  • 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Stick Butter
  • Cookie cutter

Preheat oven to 375.

Combine sugar and cinnamon in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Cut tortillas with a cookie cutter for fun shapes or slice them into triangles like pizza. Use a pastry brush to spread melted butter onto tortillas on one or both sides, as desired. Sprinkle the buttered sides with the cinnamon sugar mix and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping the chips halfway through.

Information

After a lot of discussion, the kids and I have decided that it would be fun if we could start an art group (name to be decided later) to get friends and family together to be creative. The idea we came upon: Once a month, we would extend an invitation for an in-person meet-up. There would be at least one creative project to complete each time and a (possibly themed) snack and drink to go alongside.

Prior to the meet-up date, I will plan to make a post sharing: the projects; any supply lists (in person I plan to provide this but will not turn down help), and any recipes we plan to use. This will allow anyone who cannot join us in person the chance to get in on the fun regardless of where they live. There will be a dedicated post/folder in the FB group to share pictures of what has been created.

Re-cap: One or more projects (depending on difficulty) per month. Accompanied by food and drink. Individuals are welcome to join us in person; create on their own, and hopefully share results with us, or maybe host their own creativity session where they wish.

Bonus: The Viking Kiddos would like to continue to issue weekly drawing prompts. We refer to them as Challenges, but they are merely suggestions to help spur creativity. These can be done at any time, in any order. We challenge each other pretty often. Obviously, they would be thrilled to have more people join in!

The next upcoming post will be the First Crafting Invitation...

Introductions

Hello Everyone!

A simple way to begin is to say that I have always loved crafting and creating art with my kiddos. During the Summer of 2019, I started issuing random Art Challenges to cure their dreaded Summer Boredom. I then restarted this for the first week of Lockdown in 2020. Where we started a once-a-day challenge, inviting our friends and family to join us and share their creations in our FB group 3 Vikings Art Challenge. Every so often, I have days where I feel like issuing challenges to keep them off of their electronics.

Here is where it gets good! We are going to try out something new soon and we'd love it if you would join us. But before we do that, we should start over with some re-introductions! We are, your hosts:
